Being in a place with so much nature around you, it can become difficult to know which nature strolls are the best ones to go to. The truth is, all of them will give you a magnificent experience:
Aphrodite’s Rock
According to the legend, this rock is the site of the birth of the goddess Aphrodite. Climbing it can get you great views, and who knows maybe even Aphrodite’s love powers. The beach nearby is beautiful to swim in, a bit difficult to get to, but entirely worth it.
Larnaca Salt Lake
Salt Lake is a seasonal lake. In the winter and spring, there is a lake on location, however, in the summer it evaporates and leaves a crusty layer of salt on the ground. At all times it is a beautiful site.
Caledonia Falls
Caledonia falls is the country’s most famous waterfall. It is located in the middle of the Caledonia nature trail, which runs along the ‘Kryos Potamos’ river. This trail is a wonderful opportunity to escape the summer’s heat, of course, remember to take a lot of drinking water, wear a hat and sunblock, try to keep out of the sun, and don’t forget to hydrate a lot.
This trail is a great opportunity to enjoy the sound of birds chirping and the sound of running water.
Akamas Peninsula
After a beautiful hour-long coastal ride up north, you will reach Akamas Peninsula. Here you can be amazed by the beautiful views of untouched mountains and gorges and many Cyprian endemic plants. It is also in the best places in the Mediterranean to see various types of turtles. By spending your day here you’ll be able to relax, swimming beautiful beaches and altogether enjoy nature.
Aphrodite Nature Trail
Aphrodite and Adonis are about an 8 KM semi-difficult round trail. On the trail beyond the wonderful views, you can see Cyprus’s beautiful wildflowers. Something special on this trail is the Baths of Aphrodite, where, according to legend, the Goddess of Love and Beauty used to take her baths.
Cape Greco
This national park on the southeast edge of the island is a terrific place to enjoy nature at its finest and take magnificent pictures. The hikes are not hard; therefore, they are fantastic for family time. If you feel like doing something a bit more challenging yet extremely rewarding, you should walk down the staircases in the cliffs and go see the sea caves below.
Avakas Gorge
This is a very popular hike among tourists. The Gorge which was created by erosion is 30 meters deep with major stone on both sides. It is a fantastic way to enjoy nature on the one hand and get out of the sun on the other. This hike can get a little bit challenging, especially after it has rained because the stones can get slippery. Make sure to bring the appropriate hiking shoes.
Artemis Loop
This hike is a 7 KM long hike surrounding the peak of Mount Olympus. Unfortunately, there is no option to reach the peak since it is closed for military operations, however, on this trail, the views won’t disappoint. On this route, there are ruins from a Venetian fort to see as well as the fantastic view. Just make sure if you do this hike in the winter that there isn’t snow on the mountain unless you can get lost.
Milia Bridge
Speaking of exploring Venetian architecture, you have got to go see this bridge. It’s a short and easy hike (2 KM) but completely worth it. Here you can get a perfect romantic picture and enjoy yourself on the riverbank.
