Cyprus has such a fascinating past being in the center of everything throughout history. However, the island doesn’t only have a great history but also a bright future with a wonderful and bright young generation. In Cyprus, you can find fantastic museums both historic or religious, and others all over. Some of these museums are really great.

Cyprus Motor Museum

All the car lovers out there are going to love this one. What started as an ex-Rally champion’s car collection became a beloved stop for car enthusiasts. There are over 70 different vehicles such as collector’s cars, classical cars, double dockers, US president’s Cadillac from 1977 “Mr. Been’s” miniature car, and many more interesting automobiles from different times and places. Paphos Archaeological Museum

At the archaeological museum, you can witness human activity on the Western side of Cyprus for over 5000 years from 15 different archaeological sites. Interestingly, every time you go into a room in the museum it takes you to a different time of human activity. There are so many things to see here, one of the more exciting are coins from thousands of years ago.

Cyprus Museum

When driving through the island you can see many historical excavations going around. The findings in these digs are put in the museums throughout the island, the biggest one of them is the Cyprus Museum. At the museum, you can enter a portal to the past and get the opportunity to study ancient civilizations. The island has so many of them because of its location. Being part of many marine routes, many different civilizations put down roots on the island. The exhibits go back thousands of years and bring us through The Neolithic period, ancient Greece, Rome, Byzantine, crusades, Ottoman Empire and so much more…

Archbishop’s Palace

The old Archbishop’s Palace is a two-floor 18th-century building which is important to so many people in so many levels, therefore the fact that it is in the heart of the city is no coincidence. It is important in a religious way, a political way, and a national way. Today the new building is just next door, it was built by Archbishop Makarios III between 1956 and 1960 and houses the Byzantine Museum and the Library of the Archbishopric. Today the Old Archbishop’s Palace has housed the Folk-Art Museum and the National Struggle Museum.

Leventis Municipal Museum

This museum presents the social and historical development of the city, from the Chalcolithic Age until today. Named after the Anastasios G. Leventis Foundation, which bought and restored the museum’s building. There are archeologic findings, photos, pottery from different periods, traditional costumes, and much more… there are many fantastic galleries from the various periods such as byzantine, medieval, Venetian, and Ottoman. It is a must-see when in Nicosia.

Larnaca Archeological Museum

This is a fantastic museum covering thousands of years of archeological discoveries in the region. While strolling through the museum at first, you’ll see statues from the Neolithic Age, from there you will go through pottery collections from Kition, the ancient name of Larnaca. There are special ancient vases and ornaments made of pottery, glass, bronze, and much more.

Anogyra Carob Museum

The carob will be often considered healthy chocolate but that does not do it justice. This museum shows you the many uses of carob both today and historically. Located in Anogyra village in the Limassol District inside a building from the 19th century. You get to see the production processes of various carob delicacies. We love carob syrup.

Cypriot Wine Museum

This is a very exciting museum since Cyprus is known for its wine production. In Cyprus, you have the longest-produced named wine in the world- Commandaria. This wine is considered the King of the wines according to Richard Lionheart. But of course, there are various types of Cypriot wines to see and learn about at this museum you get to see and learn how wine was produced historically and stored. On the premises, there are also lectures, wine tasting lessons, concerts, and other events throughout the year. You should check it out.

The Museum of Fairytales

Everyone grew up in fairy tales. each person has their favorite, and everyone would love to hear more of these terrific stories. Here you’ll get to see the well-known and unknown fairy tales, art connected to the fairy tales, exhibitions, music inspired by fairy tales, storytelling lessons, events, and rare books. It’s a magical place to spend your time.
